There is a particular elegance to white enamel that no other surface quite matches — clean, confident, built to be seen in a place where cleanliness and precision both mattered. This scale was that kind of object.

At its base sits a genuine antique white enamel shop or pharmacy scale of exceptional quality — its original arc measurement dial, twin weighing pans, and maker's medallion all fully intact, its white enamel body still carrying the crispness and authority of an instrument that once sat on a counter where accuracy was trusted absolutely. The enamel has aged into the particular ivory warmth that only genuine age produces, its chips and wear marks the record of a working life rather than the simulation of one. This is a scale of real character and real heritage — the kind once found in delicatessens, pharmacies, and fine food shops where the weight of something determined its value and its price.

From the scale's upper housing, a dense and branching network of salvaged brass and steel pipe fittings climbs and spreads with real ambition, distributing five independent cage light heads at dramatically varying heights across the full width of the composition — some high and wide, some central and mid-level, one forward and low — so that lit, the piece reads like a small constellation suspended above the white scale body below. A genuine reclaimed water meter with its original decorative face sits mid-structure, and a large thermometer gauge extends to the right on a short brass arm, its Celsius dial reaching 300 degrees, its presence completing an instrument cluster of genuine variety and real salvaged provenance.

Five lights above a white enamel scale. The collection has never looked like this before.
