Troy
The head of this piece is a genuine reclaimed ship's searchlight, its outer housing darkened to a deep aged bronze while the interior reflector bowl remains bright and polished — a striking contrast between the weathered exterior a vessel would have shown the world, and the mirrored precision that once did the actual work of casting light. The original side controls and mounting arm remain fully intact, untouched and unrestored.
The searchlight pivots on its original bracket, joined to a genuine wooden tripod by a small salvaged length of chain that once steadied it against rough seas. The tripod's legs are finished in a rich, aged walnut-black, their surfaces marked with the honest wear of real use, tapering to iron-shod feet built to hold firm on any deck — or any floor. Together, the naval optics and timber stance give this piece a rare presence: part instrument, part relic, entirely singular.
No reflector polishes to quite the same shine twice, and no housing weathers identically. This particular head and tripod were matched by hand as one surviving pair, and this exact piece will not exist again.
