The Deep Diver Light
This piece is built from a genuine reclaimed diving helmet, its blackened bronze and copper shell carrying a deep, mottled patina earned through real exposure to salt water and time. Every original fitting remains intact — the brass viewport frames, the side air valves, the raised communication port, and the heavy bolted collar — each piece riveted and fitted exactly as it was during its working life beneath the surface.
The helmet's main faceplate has been fitted to glow softly from within, casting a warm amber light out through its brass cross-grille and copper-toned glass, as though the helmet itself still holds some trace of pressure and depth. The smaller side viewport and top breathing grille remain unlit, left as pure sculptural detail, drawing the eye across the full form of the piece. The helmet sits mounted on a simple angled black plinth, tilted to give the whole object a sense of quiet, watchful presence.
No diving helmet ages or corrodes identically, and this particular shell, fittings, and patina exist in this one object alone. This is a genuine reclaimed piece, converted into light without erasing a single mark of its working history.
