The base of this lamp is the cast iron body of a genuine vintage water pump, its embossed maker's plate still legible beneath a deep, aged patina of blackened bronze and worn steel — the honest record of years spent in mechanical service. A weathered mounting flange at its side and a stamped nameplate confirm its origins as working machinery, not an object designed for display.
From the pump's crown, a single run of blackened brass pipe rises and forks, bending through hand-formed elbows and past an original red-handled shutoff valve — retained fully intact — before splitting into two cage-guarded pendant bulbs set at different heights, each glowing with its own warm filament. Below, a salvaged pressure gauge sits low on the pipework, its dial and needle preserved exactly as found. The entire composition stands on a reclaimed timber base, giving the piece the presence of machinery still quietly at work.
No pump wears the same patina twice, and no valve ages identically to another. This lamp is built entirely from what survived intact — one configuration, unrepeated, and unrepeatable.
