Graham
The head of this piece is a genuine reclaimed ship's searchlight, its brass housing worn to a deep, oxidized gold that no finish could replicate — the true colour of decades spent facing open water and salt air. The original hinged visor sits fixed above the lens, and the thick glass front, scratched and clouded with age, remains entirely untouched, refracting the warm glow of the bulb inside into a soft amber wash.
The searchlight is mounted on its original swivel yoke, allowing it to tilt and angle exactly as it once did on deck, and stands on a genuine military-issue tripod, its telescoping legs finished in worn matte black and joined at a heavy cast hub. The combination of naval optics and military stance gives the piece a rare, purposeful presence — built for function first, and only accidentally beautiful.
No searchlight housing ages identically, and this particular head, visor, and tripod were matched by hand as a single surviving set. It exists in exactly this form, and will not exist again.
