Gearhead Guitar

This sculpture takes the silhouette of an electric guitar and builds it entirely from mechanical salvage — a continuous run of reclaimed bicycle chain forms the outer body and neck, its individual links catching light along every curve. Set within the frame, a cluster of genuine automotive gears, sprockets, and bearings takes the place of the instrument's electronics, layered and overlapped exactly as found, nothing filed down or altered to fit a template.

Radiating outward from the body's centre, a row of reclaimed spark plugs stands in for the guitar's strings and hardware, their ceramic insulators and metal tips catching the eye like a fan of small, precise details. The headstock is formed from a genuine gear plate, drilled and shaped to hold the sculpture's linear "strings," while two simple hand-bent wire loops form the feet, giving the whole piece a light, almost musical stance despite its entirely mechanical construction.

No chain link, gear, or spark plug in this piece can be replaced or sourced to match. Every component was selected and positioned by hand, making this sculpture a singular assembly that exists in exactly one form.
