What stands here is a genuine antique ship's searchlight of exceptional size, its heavy cylindrical brass housing, original porthole-style front glass, and twin internal lamp carrier all fully intact, its body marked "TOP" exactly where a naval crew would have orientated it for installation, the letters still legible in the brass as though the last maintenance check happened recently rather than decades ago. This is not a lamp built around a searchlight component, or a searchlight adapted with theatrical accessories. It is the searchlight, complete and unaltered in every material detail, mounted on a fabricated steel yoke and heavy circular base that allow it to tilt and be directed with the same freedom it had on the deck or bridge wing it once served.

Inside the housing, the original internal lamp carrier, its twin bulb sockets still in place on their adjustable brass bracket, their combined glow reflecting off the interior of the housing in a warm, golden flood, has been rewired to accept modern bulbs while changing nothing of the original mechanism. The result is a light that illuminates from within itself, its brass interior acting as a natural reflector, the open front face directing that warmth outward in a broad, even beam that fills a room rather than targeting it.

The housing's surface carries the full record of a hard maritime life: deep, uneven patina of oxidised brass and verdigris, dents and scratches that no restorer would dare remove, every imperfection a genuine mark of real service in real conditions. The yoke and base are fabricated steel, dark and deliberate, providing a stable, architectural mount that lets the searchlight be the clear protagonist — which, in any room it enters, it inevitably is.

This is the collection's single most imposing object, the kind of piece that requires not just a room but a commitment.
