The body of this piece is a genuine hand-carved wooden panel, its tapered, surfboard-like silhouette worked entirely in raised relief — spirals, chevrons, and geometric diamond patterns cut by hand across the full length of the timber. The carving draws on a tribal decorative tradition, each motif repeated in bands down the panel, giving the surface a rhythm and texture that would stand on its own even without the lighting mounted across it.
Set into the wood, aged nickel pipework threads diagonally down the panel's face, branching at intervals into four cage-guarded pendant bulbs, each mounted at a different height and angle around the carved surface. Two salvaged pressure gauges sit fixed along the pipe run, their dials and needles preserved untouched, adding a layer of found instrumentation against the carved backdrop. The pipework itself is treated as a visible design element, its bends and joints left exposed rather than hidden, tracing a single continuous path from top to base.
No hand-carved panel repeats its pattern exactly, and this particular combination of carving, pipework, and gauges exists in this one object alone. This is a singular wall light, built once and existing in exactly this form.
