At the heart of this piece stands the original body of a vintage industrial cylinder, its steel surface aged into a deep verdigris-teal — a colour no finish can replicate, earned only through decades of oxidation. Riveted collars at top and base still bear the marks of its working life, framing a form that was never designed to be beautiful, and is beautiful precisely because of that.

Set into the pipework above it, a salvaged pressure gauge survives fully intact — its dial face, needle, and glass untouched, mounted exactly as it was found. Brass pipe rises from the cylinder in a sequence of hand-turned elbows, climbing and doubling back before reaching a weathered green enamel shade, beneath which an exposed filament bulb casts a warm, low glow. Two cast iron wall brackets carry the full composition, anchoring cylinder, gauge, and light into a single vertical column.

Every component in this piece served a purpose before it became one. The cylinder was never built to be reproduced, the gauge cannot be sourced again, and the pipe was shaped by hand around what remained. This is the only one of its kind, and once placed, it will not exist in this form anywhere else.
