The body of this piece is a genuine hand-carved wooden panel, its long, rounded form incised with a radial sunburst pattern that fans outward from a central clock face — every groove cut by hand into the dark, richly toned timber. At its base, a dense woven and diamond motif continues the carving's detail down to the panel's foot, giving the piece the presence of a single, continuously worked surface rather than an assembled composite.
Mounted into the wood, a genuine salvaged clock sits at the panel's centre, its aged white face and slender hands preserved exactly as found, framed by a simple bronze surround. Above and below it, two articulated pipe arms extend outward in sharp, angular bends, each ending in a cage-guarded pendant bulb — the two lights positioned asymmetrically, casting warm pools of glow across the carved surface itself. The polished nickel pipework contrasts sharply against the dark wood, giving the piece real visual tension between old craft and mechanical form.
No hand-carved panel repeats its grain or grooves exactly, and this particular clock face cannot be replaced or matched again. This is a singular wall light, existing in exactly this one configuration.
