The head of this piece is a genuine reclaimed ship's searchlight, its housing worn to a soft, weathered pewter from years of exposure to open water and salt air. A protective wire cage guards the thick glass lens, exactly as it was fitted for shipboard duty, while the original side-mounted controls remain intact and untouched. Behind the glass, the warm glow of the bulb catches on every scratch and imperfection in the lens — proof of a working life, not a manufactured finish.
The searchlight sits on its original swivel yoke, connected by a small linking chain that once secured it in rough seas, and stands on a genuine wooden tripod, its legs finished in a deep aged walnut-black with visible grain and wear at every joint. The pairing of naval hardware with a traditional timber tripod gives the piece a rare, grounded elegance — equal parts instrument and heirloom.
No searchlight ages or scratches the same way twice, and this particular head, cage, and tripod were matched as a single surviving set. It exists in exactly this form, and only in this one.
