What sits here is a genuine antique ship's navigation lantern, its cast aluminium domed housing, original prismatic Fresnel glass cylinder, and locking clasp all fully intact, its original mounting bracket still bolted to its base exactly as it was when this lantern last signalled position from the mast or superstructure of a working vessel. Every bolt, every gasket seal, every machined edge is original. Nothing was added. Nothing was removed. It was rewired only enough to allow a bulb to glow again where one once did.

Lit, the prismatic glass cylinder, its concentric horizontal ribs still sharp and clean, wraps warm amber light in a full 360-degree ring, the kind of all-round signal glow designed to be seen from every direction across open water. In a room, that same quality becomes something intimate and extraordinary: a small, self-contained source of warm light that radiates outward in every direction simultaneously, casting delicate rib-patterns of light across any surface it touches.

The mounting bracket below — flat, flanged, bolt-holed — tells its own story: this lantern was fixed to something, somewhere, and held its position through whatever weather came. It now holds its position on a shelf or surface with the same permanence, needing nothing around it to justify its presence.

This is The Galleria's philosophy at its most distilled: an object of genuine history, requiring the lightest possible touch, offered exactly as it arrived.

Details:

• Genuine ship's navigation lantern — original cast aluminium housing, prismatic glass cylinder

• Original mounting bracket — fully preserved

• 360-degree warm amber light distribution — via prismatic Fresnel glass

• Minimal intervention — rewired only, everything original

• One of a kind — a genuine maritime instrument, preserved whole

An object that once told ships where something was. Now it simply glows, and that is enough.
