Gone for a flight
This model biplane is handcrafted from reclaimed sheet metal, every panel of the fuselage, wing, and tail cut, curved, and joined by hand into the unmistakable silhouette of a vintage barnstorming aircraft. The bold red, cream, and navy paintwork has been applied and deliberately weathered to echo decades of open-cockpit flying — chipped along the nose cone, worn at the wing edges, exactly where real use would leave its mark.
The double wing structure is braced with fine hand-formed wire struts, faithfully recreating the crossed rigging of an early biplane, while a twin-bladed propeller sits mounted at the nose, its blades individually shaped and hand-painted in matching stripes. Beneath, four small salvaged wheels carry the model on a simple undercarriage, giving the piece a grounded, ready-for-takeoff stance.
Every panel of this model was cut and shaped from reclaimed material by hand, with no two curves, dents, or paint patterns ever repeating exactly. This is a singular handcrafted object, existing in exactly one form.
